Construction Noise Assessment

What is a Construction Noise Assessment?

A Construction Noise Assessment is a site/project specific document which assesses the construction works to be undertaken, the proposed construction methodologies, and the plant and equipment to be utilised during construction works.

The purpose of a Construction Noise Assessment is to predict expected noise levels created during construction works, and to design appropriate mitigation measures to ensure that construction noise is kept below acceptable levels. A Construction Noise Assessment is required to support a Section 61 Prior Consent Application.

The typical contents of a Construction Noise Assessment will include:

  • Introduction

  • Site and development description

  • Guidance

  • Construction methodology

  • Construction noise assessment

  • Noise and vibration mitigation measures

  • Conclusion

  • Set of construction drawings

  • Programme of works

  • Details of plant and equipment to be used during each stage of the development

  • Details of plant and equipment percentage usage
